Bolivian coffee is often hard to come by, which made this lot especially exciting for us. It’s our first time purchasing from Ann-Kathrin at Caraya Coffee, a fellow member of CC Communal Coffee. This particular coffee quickly became a team favourite from Caraya’s offerings this harvest.
René Millares leads the Comunidad Amor de Dios, a group of 15 families based in Cruz Playa, Caranavi, La Paz, Bolivia, at 1,700 masl. They grow coffee alongside crops like avocado, citrus, and passionfruit. With a long-standing tradition of excellence and regional recognition - including awards in competitions like Cup of Excellence, the community is deeply committed to quality. Though their own wet mill is no longer operational due to the effects of climate change, they now process coffee at Asocafé’s facility (1,000 masl) for improved drying control.
René, a seasoned producer with export experience to Spain, also serves on Asocafé’s board. He plays a key role in coordinating processing, commercialisation, and knowledge sharing within the community. His dedication and leadership have been instrumental in maintaining high standards and elevating the quality of their coffee, even through challenging conditions.
It's a wonderful addition to our portfolio and will most likely be your new go-to comfort brew. We tasted toffee sweetness, pistachio nuttiness and sticky dates.
