This coffee holds a special place in our caffeinated little hearts - this marks the seventh year Vote has bought from Sookoo Coffee's Koromii Collective.
It comes to us us via Osito, an importer with a refreshingly simple philosophy: buy as many qualities as possible from each producer rather than cherry-picking microlots, pay fixed prices above commodity levels that don't fluctuate day to day, and commit to producers year over year regardless of quality variance, C market swings, or logistical headaches. It's a level of commitment we really admire.
Osito was buying coffee from Ture Waji for several years even before Sookoo existed - back when Ture was managing farms and overseeing production across Guji, in southern Ethiopia, a region he knows better than almost anyone. It's no wonder he's earned the nickname "The King of Guji."
This particular lot is harvested by a small group of farmers who named their collective after their sub-region, Koromii. Its 27 members belong to the broader Sookoo group, which Ture now manages as a local agronomy and permaculture expert - growing coffee in semi-forest conditions, under and alongside the shade of existing forest trees.

Like taking a bite of a perfectly baked blueberry shortbread. Fragrant on the nose, deliciously juicy berry punch with a clean acidy and a smooth creamy finish.
