This Kenyan coffee comes to us through our long-term partners, Falcon. Falcon was founded on the belief that coffee can bring meaningful change to communities and the environment. By focusing on quality, they help farmers earn better prices for their coffee, which in turn supports stronger livelihoods and more sustainable practices. Their role is to connect small farming communities with the wider world, building supply chains that benefit everyone involved.

This coffee stood out not only for the classic Kenyan flavours of berries and florals, but also for its layers of fresh herbs and spices that we as a team really loved.

It was grown by smallholder farmers who are part of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) and delivered to the Kiandu Coffee Factory in Nyeri County, near the town of Tetu. Mutheka FCS is a relatively young group, created in 2004, and now counts around 6,000 farmers across seven factories. Kiandu is one of the largest, with nearly 1,900 members.

At the factory, coffee cherries are carefully handpicked and delivered the same day. Staff check them closely, accepting only the ripest, healthiest cherries to ensure the best quality. Farmers who bring in the finest cherries are rewarded with better prices, creating a cycle that encourages care and consistency.

Roasted on the lighter side, this coffee is juicy, fruity, and floral, with a raspberry-like brightness, a smooth wild honey sweetness, with herbal notes of eucalyptus and Cardamon.
