Since we added a decaf roast to our lineup, it’s become a crowd favourite! Gone are the days when decaf was just a sad, bitter imitation of the real deal. We believe that true coffee lovers don’t need caffeine to appreciate a great cup—it’s all about the flavour and the ritual. But hey, that’s just our take!
This time around, we’re super excited to bring you something a little different, so you can enjoy your coffee even when the clock’s ticking toward bedtime (unless you're planning to dance the night away, of course). Huge thanks to Cafe Imports, we’re able to share a coffee from Huila, Colombia. The name “Decaf de Caña” refers to the sugarcane-based decaffeination process. Sugarcane is used to create Ethyl acetate, a naturally occurring ester (also found in bananas!) that helps remove caffeine from green coffee beans.
When we tasted it, we couldn’t help but notice a lovely sweetness reminiscent of sugarcane, paired with malty and chocolatey notes. It also has a balanced acidity that makes it super smooth, even as it cools down. So, if you get distracted and forget your cup for a while, no worries—it’ll still taste great!
