This coffee comes to us via Osito, an importer with a simple philosophy: buy as many qualities as possible from each producer, not just cherrypick microlots. Pay prices fixed above commodity levels that don't fluctuate day to day. Commit to producers year over year, regardless of quality variance, C market swings, or logistical headaches. We really admire their commitment to producers.
Osito has worked with Ture Waji since the earliest days of Sookoo, and even before that. David, who leads most of Osito's Ethiopian sourcing, was buying coffee from Ture for several years before Sookoo was founded. Back then, Ture was managing farms and overseeing production in Guji, southern Ethiopia, a region he knows better than most. It's no wonder he's earned the nickname The King of Guji. This 2025 harvest marks the third year Osito has bought washed coffee from Bookkisa, and the second year we are delighted to have it back in our portfolio at Vote.
This washed lot delivers everything we love about washed Guji coffees: melon, black tea, citrus, and delicate florals. We've roasted it on the lighter side to bring out lily-like florals, tangerine acidity, and a peach iced tea body making it a great Summer filter coffee!
